Bibb City Reinvented
A historic feel defines the living experience at Lofts at Riverwalk, and that derives from its deep connection to the local history in Columbus, Georgia. Our distinctive loft apartments are located in Bibb City, a neighborhood of Columbus named for the Bibb Manufacturing Company, which established a mill in the early 20th century. Bibb provided company housing for its employees, who filled the streets around town. While some of the original company town remains, the mill itself has burned down.
The same owners who operated the historic Columbus Mill acquired the building where Lofts at Riverwalk now stands, then called the Anderson Mill. During World War II, the Anderson Mill became the largest war-industry producer in Georgia. In its heyday, the cotton mill employed over 700 workers and consumed 20,000 cotton bales a year. Today, the unique history of this building and the character of its surroundings inspires a new chapter for Bibb City.
